Academic excellence at ESSEC Asia-Pacific reflects the exceptional caliber of students drawn to the Global Bachelor of Business Administration (GBBA) program from across Southeast Asia.
This semester, three outstanding students from the region have earned prestigious Dean’s List recognition, demonstrating how the program’s rigorous curriculum and supportive learning environment enable local talent to achieve international academic standards while building foundations for global business careers.
First-Year Excellence: Éloïse Le Sets Early Standards
Éloïse Le, a Singaporean student in BBA Year 1, Semester 1, has distinguished herself among her international cohort through exceptional academic performance.
“Achieving first on the Dean’s List has given me a boost of confidence and motivates me to keep challenging myself and aiming higher, rather than staying at the same level. It has also opened more opportunities, both professional and within the school, with more people recognizing my work.” Éloïse’s success illustrates the GBBA program’s rigorous yet supportive environment for academic excellence and her ability to navigate academic challenges.
When asked what helped her achieve the Dean’s List in her first semester, Éloïse shared: “Staying organized and consistent was key. I made flashcards, participated actively in class, and sought help when needed, even bounced back from midterm setbacks. A balanced work-life with friends every weekend, combined with consistent, small study efforts, truly paid off.”
Second-Year Leadership: Indonesian Students Excel
Indonesian students Janice Augustine and Olivia Gunawan, both in BBA Year 2 Semester 3, achieved Dean’s List recognition during a challenging academic period.
Janice shared her thoughts, “Being part of the Dean’s List is an accomplishment I’m proud of. It shows I’m making the most of the GBBA program and can stay competitive amongst very bright peers. That confidence has carried over into my career journey — instead of hesitating to apply for certain internships out of fear, I now feel encouraged to take more chances and pursue a wider range of opportunities.”
Olivia similarly noted, “I’m very grateful to have been part of the Dean’s List, but I always remind myself that this is just the beginning. I hope that beyond grades, this recognition demonstrates my work ethic and resilience to future employers.”
Their success in Year 2, Semester 3, signifies mastery of foundational concepts and readiness for senior-level coursework and professional roles.
Future Implications and Career Preparation
Dean’s List recognition significantly aids competitive internship applications, graduate school admissions, and early career recruitment, showcasing academic excellence valued by employers. These achievements build a strong foundation for advanced coursework, leadership, and specialized knowledge, crucial for GBBA program completion and career readiness.
Looking back, Olivia shared that “This semester, I had the opportunity to work with classmates from both ESSEC Cergy and Rabat. Working across different campuses presented initial challenges, but I’m grateful to have collaborated with such dedicated teammates. Their commitment enhanced our group dynamic, and together we delivered strong presentations.”
“This semester has been a crash course on soft skills — adapting to different personality types, practicing non-violent communication, and upholding ethical standards,” Janice reflected. “These lessons proved invaluable during my e-commerce internship this summer, whether voicing objections to superiors or adjusting my working habits for different managers. I’m confident I’ll continue applying these skills as a future leader.”
The students’ academic excellence combined with regional cultural competence strategically positions them for careers connecting Southeast Asian markets with international business opportunities, embodying the GBBA program’s mission to develop globally competent leaders.
