On 6 December 2024, the ESSEC APAC community came together to spread festive cheer to seniors in Singapore. In partnership with FaithActs, a non-profit community care service, ESSEC organized a Christmas celebration for more than 40 seniors in the Queenstown neighborhood.
This celebration was an opportunity to embrace the spirit of giving as part of SG Cares Giving Week, an annual initiative by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) that invites communities to step forward and care for one another.
For our collective efforts, NVPC has acknowledged ESSEC as a Giving Partner.
The afternoon was filled with laughter and joy as ESSEC students, alumni, faculty, and staff guided the seniors through various festive activities. The event began with Christmas decoration crafting, led by Assistant Director of Finance Christina Ketheesan. Charades and a memory game followed this.
The excitement continued with a lucky draw, with Deputy Dean Reetika Gupta and Associate Dean of Faculty Sonja Prokopec drawing three winners. The event concluded with a Christmas carol sing-along and refreshments shared with the seniors.
Let’s hear from our volunteers at the celebration:
“Seeing the happiness and laughter on the faces of old folks and volunteers enjoying the session was priceless. It’s a pleasure to play my part and contribute.”—June Lim, ESSEC Alumni
“This experience was truly touching—it reminded me of the importance of kindness, connection, and giving back to the community. Seeing the joy on the seniors’ faces was the highlight of my week! I look forward to participating in more initiatives like this and continuing to contribute to the spirit of care and compassion at ESSEC.”—Siyu Hua, MMD Student
Let’s continue building a kinder and more caring Singapore through initiatives that unite our community.
