What does it take for students to succeed in today’s global business environment? From the end of September to October 2024, ESSEC APAC was involved in events and programs focused on preparing students for their future careers through thought leadership and mentorship opportunities.
Mentorship Program for Global BBA Year 1 Students
On 30 September, ESSEC launched its inaugural mentorship program in collaboration with the French Foreign Trade Advisors (Les Conseillers du Commerce extérieur de la France).
The event was organised in collaboration with Global Bachelor of Business Administration (GBBA) Associate Academic Director Daphne Lui and the GBBA Program team. While not part of the official curriculum, 24% of Year 1 students attended the session.
The session was led by Henri Pottier, Corporate Secretary of the French Foreign Trade Advisors, and featured young international interns from the Volontariat International en Entreprise (VIE) program. The speakers shared insights into global careers and international work experiences.
This initiative allowed Global BBA students to expand their professional networks, deepen their industry knowledge, and receive personalized mentorship.
ESSEC at EuroCham Panel Discussion
On 23 October, ESSEC participated in a panel discussion titled “Young Talent and Potential Leaders in Finance,” moderated by Rick Marchese, ESSEC’s Professor of Management Practice in Finance.
Organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (EuroCham), the event explored how higher education institutions are shaping the next generation of finance professionals and bridging the gap between theory and practice for students.
After Prof. Marchese’s keynote address, panelists from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and German bank LBBW shared their perspectives on nurturing young talent in the industry.
Students from higher education institutions, including ESSEC, NTU, and NUS gained insights on the hard and soft skills in demand, strategies for overcoming workplace challenges including competition and burnout, and the opportunities presented by the sector.
